Are EcoEnclose Products Compostable?
Last Updated: 08/11/2016
We are not able to label our products as compostable.

According to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), in order for a material or product to be considered to be "Compostable", the product must:

1) break down to carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds, and biomass at a rate similar to paper

2) disintegrate into small pieces within 90 days, so that the original product is not visually distinguishable in the compost, and

3) leave no toxic residue.

All of our paper and cardboard products would degrade, however, due to the recycled nature of our products, we cannot guarantee that they would be free of toxins. The main concern would be:

Glues (chemical)
Inks (GMO soy and chemical)
Toners (chemicals, plastics, waxes)
Chlorine (chemical used for bleaching)
Coatings (chemical)

We do take pride in the fact that we are keeping the recycling stream circulating, and we do encourage our customers to recycle all of our products!
