Why Post-Consumer Recycled?
We prioritize plastic pouches made with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content because most end up in landfills. By creating demand for PCR in pouch films—an industry still dominated by virgin materials—we help make recycled content packaging mainstream over time.
While some plastic pouches are designed to be thin-film recyclable, recycling facilities rarely process them successfully. They look and behave just like non-recyclable pouches, making them difficult to sort, and metalized versions can even shut down sorting lines—an expensive problem for facilities.
Until recycling systems catch up, EcoEnclose focuses on what makes the biggest impact today: maximizing PCR content to significantly lower each plastic pouch’s carbon footprint. It’s not a complete end-of-life solution yet, but it’s a meaningful step toward a circular future.
