Custom packaging tape is tape printed with your logo, branding, or message, designed to both seal boxes securely and transform each shipment into a branded touchpoint. EcoEnclose offers sustainable custom tape options made from paper or cellulose to support recyclability and lower-waste shipping.

EcoEnclose offers three types of custom packaging tape: water-activated tape, kraft flatback pressure-sensitive paper tape, and clear cellulose tape. Each option provides a different balance of strength, sustainability, and application method.

The most eco-friendly tape is water-activated paper tape, which is plastic-free, recyclable with cardboard, and uses a starch-based adhesive. Cellulose tape is also a sustainable choice for applications requiring a clear, industrially compostable option.

Pressure-Sensitive Tape is a great solution for lower-volume operations and for relatively lighter-weight packages. For high-volume applications, you will discover our Water Activated Kraft Paper Tape is better performing, more reliable, and lower cost per box sealed. In fact, one strip of paper tape often does the job of three strips of plastic tape.

Water-activated tape is stronger and creates a tamper-evident, fiber-bonded seal, making it ideal for heavy or high-volume shipments. Pressure-sensitive kraft tape is best for quick application and lighter boxes. The right choice depends on shipping volume, box weight, and workflow.

You will receive a digital proof of your tape within 1-2 days after your order is placed. Once your proof is approved, your lead time and custom tape printing will start. Check our current lead times here.

We encourage focusing on the end-of-life and recyclability of the box that the tape is to be used on. None of our custom-printed packing tape will prevent a shipping box from being recycled.

When our non-reinforced water-activated tape is placed on a corrugated box, and that box is recycled with the tape, both the tape and the box are easily recycled in the same stream. The same goes for our reinforced water-activated tape, though the fiberglass is screened out during recycling.

Our Kraft flatback tape uses a high-tack adhesive made from partially natural, partially synthetic rubber. While this adhesive is not biodegradable, the tape is typically screened out during standard box recycling.

We do not offer custom tape samples, but we do provide a detailed digital proof. This shows the exact layout, including the text placement, image proportions, and artwork on your tape. You'll receive your final preproduction proof within 1–2 days of placing your order.

We recommend using a dispenser for our water-activated tape. This particular tape is easier to use when paired with an automated WAT dispenser allowing you to move orders through fulfillment more quickly and easily. Kraft flatback and cello tapes work with standard handheld tape guns. Using the correct dispenser improves tape performance, speed, and material efficiency.

All of our tape is printed in the USA. Our water-activated and Kraft flatback tapes are made in the USA, while our cello tape is made in the USA using both domestic and imported materials.

The minimum order quantities for custom packaging tape vary by type, production method, and roll size. Generally, custom WAT may have a higher MOQ than custom Kraft Flatback tape. Please check the individual product pages or contact our enterprise team for current MOQ details.

High-quality water-activated paper tape can exceed the strength of plastic packing tape. When activated, it bonds to the fibers of corrugated cardboard, creating a single-use, tamper-evident seal that reduces the need for multiple tape strips.
