Water-activated tape is a paper-based shipping tape that bonds with boxes and other surfaces when moistened. It sticks to the box surface as it dries, creating a durable seal that performs as well as conventional plastic tape. Unlike plastic tape, which often needs multiple strips, water-activated tape often seals securely with just one.
While reinforced versions contain fiberglass for added strength (ideal for heavy-duty shipments), non-reinforced tape does not. This makes it naturally biodegradable, so both the tape and the box can be repulped together in standard paper recycling streams.
